Course content
The lecture Nachrichtentechnik (Communications engineering) deals with the most important concepts and techniques for the transmission of signals and data. It first provides the tools for signal representation and analysis. Then, it describes fundamental techniques to transmit data over a communication channel. The lecture is accompanied by a Kurs where the concepts explained in the lecture are recalled through exercises and numerical examples in MATLAB/SIMULINK.
- Introduction to communication systems
- Basics of signal representation and properties
- Fourier transform for continous time signals
- Complex representation of bandpass signals
- Baseband representation of systems
- Basics of random processes
- Analog modulation techniques
- Digital base band modulation
- Bandpass digital modulation
Prior knowledge expected
- Functions, signals, integrals
- Elements of probability
