Intended learning outcomes
By the end of this course, students should be able to:
- actively and accurately use the business-specific vocabulary and phrases that have been studied in class and at home
- deepened their understanding of, and ability to produce, a range of grammatical structures.
- follow and contribute extensively to a meeting on a pre-assigned topic
- negotiate effectively, using a range of phrases studied both in class and at home.
Teaching methodology including the use of eLearning tools
Group work, communicative activities, extensive self-study, regular vocabulary assessments, speaking and writing assessments.
Course content
Skills that will be developed throughout this course are:
- ability to participate confidently and effectively in a meeting
- ability to negotiate
- writing skills (awareness of informal/formal differences)
- reading skills (case studies, news articles)
- grammar (inclu. tense and aspect, prepositions and relative clauses)
- subject-specific vocabulary (with a focus on phrasal verbs and idiomatic expressions)
Topics that will be covered throughout this course include:
- leadership
- discrimination
- intercultural communication
- marketing
Prior knowledge expected
Strong English capabilities: B2
Literature
Recommended reading will be given throughout the semester

Grades are given for class participation throughout the semester (in-class work consists of activities, discussions, and projects; out-of-class work includes assignments and/or activities given in class or posted on Moodle), two written vocabulary tests, and a written business plan.

Vocabulary, activities, projects, discussions, meetings, and any other gradable work will be based upon materials provided by the teacher or the students themselves in class or on Moodle.
