Course Information

Intended learning outcomes

Students will learn how to program devices running TinyOS and how to connect them in order to create applications for WSNs.

Course content

Wireless sensor networks (WSN) are system composed by spatially distributed devices that sense the environment (e.g. measure the temperature) and exchange information with each other over a wireless channel. The devices have usually severe limitations on the battery capacity and on the computational power. Therefore, they require a specific operative system and a particular attention in the algorithms design. TinyOS is an event-driven operative system designed for WSNs. During the lab, students will learn how to create applications for networks of devices running TinyOS.
