Course Information
Intended learning outcomes
Students are introduced to theoretical and practical issues in foreign language teaching. Research findinds from second language acquisition research and their implications for foreign language teaching are compared with the students' own language learning experience. A brief introduction will be given to some of the main approaches to foreign language teaching. Furthermore, attention will be drawn to ways of teaching pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary and the four skills in the context of a learning pedagogy with a communicative orientation.
Teaching methodology including the use of eLearning tools
Interactive class including both teacher- and student-led projects.

(a) A historical perspective on English Language Teaching (ELT)
(b) Principles of communicative language learning
(c) Discussion of different language learning approaches
(d) Teaching pronunciation
(e) Teaching vocabulary and grammar
(f) Teaching the four skills
(g) The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and its implications for language teaching and learning
