Course Information
Intended learning outcomes
At the end of this course, students will have been exposed to a historical and current theories of second language acquisition. Students will learn about language teaching methods and approaches, specifically in how productive and receptive skills and grammar and vocabulary are taught.
Course content
Students are introduced to theoretical and practical issues in EFL teaching. Research findings from second language acquisition and their implications for foreign language teaching are compared with the students’ own language learning experience. A brief introduction to approaches to foreign language teaching will be presented. Furthermore, attention will be drawn to ways of teaching grammar, vocabulary, and the four skills (listening, speaking, writing, reading) within a foreign language pedagogy with a communicative orientation.
