Intended learning outcomes

The aim of this module is for you to gain an intuitive understanding of digital signal processing. The course should be interactive, and lectures will be complemented by a number of exercises and assignments. Your final mark will be derived from these assignments and a final written examination.

Course content

Signal processing aims to detect, extract and enhance signals within a mixture of noise and interference, and as such is part of most sensor and many actuator systems. Important applications lie in communications, audio & acoustics, biomedical engineering and many other areas.

Topics

  • We will start with a review of time and frequency domain representations of signals and systems, and move via the Fourier series for periodic signals to the Fourier transform applicable to aperiodic s

Keywords

Fourier DFT, FFT, OFDM

Teaching objective

This module will introduce you to the basic techniques involved in digital signal processing, and also highlight some advanced topics and applications. The aim of this module is for you to gain an intuitive understanding of digital signal processing. The course should be interactive, and lectures will be complemented by a umber of exercises and assignments. Your final mark will be derived from these assignments and a final written examination.

Examination information

Im Fall von online durchgeführten Prüfungen sind die Standards zu beachten, die die technischen Geräte der Studierenden erfüllen müssen, um an diesen Prüfungen teilnehmen zu können.
