Course Information

Teaching methodology including the use of eLearning tools

The sessions are a mix of formal lectures, interactive discussions and in-class case study analyses. In each session students will have an opportunity to apply the concepts learned to a particular case.

Course content

Overview Performance management is concerned with identifying, measuring and developing the performance of individuals and teams and aligning their performance with the strategic objectives of the organisations. This course addresses the design of performance management systems and identifies the knowledge and skills needed for effective performance appraisal and performance review processes.

Teaching objective

Course objectives • To explain the concept of performance management and different advantages of implementing well-designed performance management systems. • To explain and understand that performance management is an on-going process composed of several sub-processes, such as performance planning, execution, assessment, and review. • To design a performance management system for a given job role that could be applied in practice • To understand and develop key skills involved in effective performance management, such as coaching and conducting effective performance review meetings
