Course content
Objectives: This Lecture is organized around the following key points aiming at providing to students some important and useful basics for computational engineering; a particular attention is devoted to both solving linear and nonlinear mathematical models with MATLAB/SIMULINK and processing some image tasks with MATLAB. Further some concrete application examples of practical interest are considered in the fields of Transportation engineering, mechatronics, Control systems engineering, and Signal processing. 1-Providing to students theoretical and useful basics for computational engineering 2-Providing an Overview on MATLAB/SIMULINK 3-Familiarizing students with some important MATLAB commands for computational engineering 4-Use of Symbolic MATLAB for deriving analytical solutions of: o Linear algebraic equations o Nonlinear algebraic equations o Linear Ordinary Differential Equations o Nonlinear Ordinary Differential Equations 5-Use of MATLAB for deriving Numerical solutions of: o Linear algebraic equations o Nonlinear algebraic equations o Linear Ordinary Differential Equations o Nonlinear Ordinary Differential Equations 6-Use of MATLAB for deriving Numerical solutions of: o Linear Partial Differential Equations 7-Use of SIMULINK for deriving Numerical solutions of: o Linear Ordinary Differential Equations o Nonlinear Ordinary Differential Equations 8-Use of SIMULINK for deriving Numerical solutions of: o Linear Partial Differential Equations Application-1: Simulation of models in transportation using MATLAB/SIMULINK. Application-2: Transfert functions of filters and simulations using MATLAB/SIMULINK (Low-pass filters, high pass filters, band pass filters, and band-rejection filters). Application-3: Image processing: Basic commands and some image processing tasks with MATLAB. Application-4: Signal processing: Extraction of a Signal embedded in noise.Examination information
