LV-Beschreibung
Lehrmethodik inkl. Einsatz von eLearning-Tools
Lectures, practical assignments, discussions and presentations.Inhalt/e
This class supplies an introduction to human centered computing and human centered design. That is, how do we design digital artefacts that are easy, efficient and pleasurable to use – or interact with? A good knowledge about the human user and the perceptual and cognitive characteristics of people is key. The overriding aim with this course is to provide this knowledge.Themen
- In this class we will cover the following topics (some more thoroughly than others):
- - Human Centered Computing/Design (definitions, foundations, holistic view)
- - Usability
- - The human user (sensory system, memory system)
- - Interaction with everyday things
- - Characteristics of interaction
- - Interaction frameworks
- - The design process
- - Design guidelines & principles
Lehrziel
By the end of this course, students should: - have acquired a broad understanding of the field of human centered computing/design - have acquired a basic knowledge of the human aspects most relevant to design - have extended their vocabulary with the relevant domain-specific vocabulary - understand how to ground designs in realityErwartete Vorkenntnisse

Most introductory books on Human-Computer interaction, interactive systems, usability, interface design, etc. include most of the topics discussed in this class. Below is a list (in random order) of some suitable books. The list could easily be extended. The university library has a good collection, including many of the listed books. I also have several books on the topics that I’m happy to lend you. - Nielsen, J.: Usability Engineering. Morgan Kaufmann. - Leventhal, L. & Barnes, J.: Usability Engineering: Process, Products, and Examples.
