At the end of this course students will have acquired a broad knowledge on the topics mentioned above. This will serve as preparation for other courses, their practical teacher training and ultimately their careers as English teachers.Teaching methodology including the use of eLearning tools

Students are introduced to theoretical and practical issues in foreign language teaching. Research findings from second language acquisition and their implications for foreign language teaching are compared with the students’ own language learning experience. A brief introduction will be given to some of the main approaches to foreign language teaching. Furthermore, attention will be drawn to ways of teaching pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary and the four skills within a foreign language pedagogy with a communicative orientation.The course starts on 17 March 2014.

- to introduce future English teachers to historical developments of first & second language acquisition and ELT (core objective) - to offer theoretical knowledge about teaching the four skills, vocabulary and grammar (core objective) - to give insight into the CEFR and draw conclusions on its impact on ELT (if time allows) - to introduce students to EPOSTL (if time allows)Prior knowledge expected
