Inhalt/e

A comprehensive introduction to Human Resource Management for students who are new to the field, in terms of both academic research and practice. As such, students are provided with key definitions, an outline of the historical development of the field, the potential roles of Human Resource Management and Human Resource professionals in organizations, and the key contextual factors that may influence these roles and practices.

This course is broken down into three parts covering:

  1. Strategic Issues in Human Resource Management,
  2. Human Resource Management in Practice and
  3. Human Resource Management in Context

The various theories, practices, and debates that populate this field are examined, and the challenges and controversies that arise when theory meets practice are explored. The international dimension including cross-cultural working, diversity, equality, and international business are considered throughout.

Practical learning features are included to help students develop skills they can apply to their course and in graduate employment.

International case studies of well-known companies are included to broaden students´ learning and combine theory with real-life application.
