Intendierte Lernergebnisse
Upon successful completion of the seminar, students will be able to:
- analyze transformation processes of regional economies from different points of view
- compare different perspectives and draw conclusions for concrete problems
- evaluate different policies and their appropriateness for regional issues.

Inhalt/e
The aim of the seminar is to gain a theory-based understanding regional economic transformation processes. The seminar deals with the following questions: Why the region as a level for analyzing and shaping economic transformation processes? How do peripheral regions transform? What global influences are regions subject to? Why is regional policy important? Which concepts are used to try to influence regional developments?
Erwartete Vorkenntnisse
Knowledge of the following topics is required: Agglomeration economies, institutions, networks, spatial evolution of industries, global value chains, Fordism and post-Fordism. These topics are covered in the course: "Grundlagen der Humangeographie I", Sessions 1-7. This course is available online. Enrollment in this course is by request.
