First, students will be introduced to key terms and central approaches to the literary study of Anglophone texts. Over the rest of the semester, we will then take a close look at the three main literary genres: poetry (both in its classical and modern form), prose (particularly short stories), and drama. In addition, we will explore different approaches and theories for literary analysis. Exemplary texts and other media (film, music) shall serve us for a better understanding and as practice of our analytical skills.
