Intendierte Lernergebnisse

The intended learning outcomes are built on the preparatory work in the winter term in the course Sustainable Development I (890.001).
Challenge: Answering the research question developed in teams and discussing scientific and non-scientific assumptions and forms of knowledge.
 1. Apply methodical approaches to the concept of "sustainable development" of different disciplines and test their practical relevance
 2. Identification and reflection of everyday theories
 3. Sustainable development in thinking and acting; act and reflect in contradictions
 4. Building a learning community (students and teachers see themselves as one unit, all are learners)

The outputs are a seminar paper and a transfer product (related to the practical field selected), both written in teams.

Lehrmethodik inkl. Einsatz von eLearning-Tools

Basic principle: learning through scientific discourse based on practical problems (problem-based learning): In the case of dilemmas and aporetic conflicts, answers cannot be right or wrong, but only well or badly argued.

The resulting methods applied
 • Literature study and discussion of various sustainability concepts in relation to their practical relevance
 • Conducting a small research project and creating an outcomes "product" for a concrete practical field
 • Writing and discussing textual reflections on the literature
 • Lectures / presentations
 • Development and implementation of small research projects with final presentation
 • Independent and collaborative development based on practical case examples (learning from experience)

Inhalt/e

Sustainable Development II, the second part of this course series (held over two terms), is dedicated tothe practical implementation of sustainability. Dilemmas and contradictions are processed together with practice partners. Through innovative learning settings, where students have to apply their individual field of study/discipline answers to research questions are worked out and contextualized within the framework ofa small research project. The strong research and practical relevance bring the students closer to the idea of sustainable development from the perspective of different disciplines and different practical perspectives. Competencies and methods of transdisciplinary research are imparted and practiced in order to help shape a future worth living. "Sustainability" is understood as a"regulatory idea". The course enables students to reflect and apply scientific knowledge and scientific methods outside of the university context and thereby generate new knowledge with the practice partners or the targetgroup.
