Intendierte Lernergebnisse
This course focuses on theoretical and practical concerns regarding the effective incorporation of technology in language teaching. The course explores, firstly, the use of technology in face-to-face teaching-and-learning; secondly, technology as a means to extend learning beyond the classroom walls; and, finally, technology as a tool for mediating virtual/distance teaching-and-learning.
By the end of the course, you should have developed awareness of
- CALL (computer-assisted language learning) / TEL (technology enhanced learning) technologies.
- theoretical foundations of and frameworks for CALL/TEL.
- software for teaching-and-learning.
- technologies for managing teaching-and-learning (inc. VLEs).
- technologies for promoting reading and writing (inc. feedback).
- technologies for listening and speaking.
- technologies for grammar and vocabulary acquisition.
- technologies for assessment and evaluation.
- gamification.
- privacy considerations.
- design and layouting considerations.
By the end of the course, you should be able to
- draw on a broad repertoire of software and technologies for language education.
- evaluate online tools and activities for enhancing language learning-and-teaching.
- make principled decisions regarding the adoption and implementation of technology in language education.
- design sequences of face-to-face lessons that integrate technology.
- design virtual/distance sequences of lessons.
