Course Information

Intended learning outcomes

By the end of this course, students should be able to:

- actively and accurately use the business-specific vocabulary and phrases that have been studied in class and at home

- deepened their understanding of, and ability to produce, a range of grammatical structures.

- follow and contribute extensively to a meeting on a pre-assigned topic

- negotiate effectively, using a range of phrases studied both in class and at home.


Teaching methodology

Group work, communicative activities,  self-study, regular vocabulary assessments, speaking and writing assessments.

Course content

Skills that will be developed throughout this course are:

  • ability to participate confidently and effectively in a meeting
  • ability to negotiate
  • writing skills (awareness of informal/formal differences)
  • reading skills (case studies, news articles)
  • grammar (inclu. tense and aspect, prepositions and relative clauses)
  • subject-specific vocabulary (with a focus on phrasal verbs and idiomatic expressions)

Topics that will be covered throughout this course include:

  • leadership
  • discrimination
  • intercultural communication
  • marketing

Literature

Recommended reading will be given throughout the semester
