Course Information

Intended learning outcomes

The aim of the course is to build on students' ability to communicate in English, with a native English speaking audience, using their everyday computer skills and knowledge.

Teaching methodology including the use of eLearning tools

The course will focus on written and oral forms of communication and a review of some basic grammar.

Course content

The content will be based on current issues in computing that is relevant to personal and public use of computers.

Prior knowledge expected

A B1-B2 level of English is necessary to successfully participate in this course.

Literature

The material from the course will include articles from computer and technology magazines, newspapers and the internet.

Examination information

Im Fall von online durchgeführten Prüfungen sind die Standards zu beachten, die die technischen Geräte der Studierenden erfüllen müssen, um an diesen Prüfungen teilnehmen zu können.

Examination methodology

Students will be asked to discuss topics (in short texts and oral presentations) from computer and technology articles/magazines, newspapers and websites from the internet.

Examination topic(s)

The final grades will be based on the short texts and presentations that the students have completed throughout the course.

Assessment criteria / Standards of assessment for examinations

Students should be able to clearly explain technical information to a native speaking audience. Naturally, I will not expect your oral and written presentations to be at the level of a native speaker 😅.
