Course Information
Intended learning outcomes
The aim of the course is:
- to show students how to analyze novels and films
- to discuss relevant cultural and historical issues and intertwine them with film and literature
- speculate on "what might have been".
Teaching methodology including the use of eLearning tools
- Presentation (20-25 min.)
- Group discussions
- One mandatory book to read: Philip K. Dick's The Man in the High Castle
- SE-paper
Course content
What if...
- Canada had remained French?
- the United States had remained neutral?
- Germany had won WW2?
- the Cold War had not existed?
- John F. Kennedy had lived?
- There had been no Watergate?
If you are interested in these topics, then you are welcomed to this seminar as it will deal primarily with these historical issues. We are going to discuss and speculate on "what might have been".
