Intended learning outcomes
This practically oriented course is aimed at providing an insight into the complicated process of assessing writing performance. Within the course we will look at how writing tasks are set up, what are the common problems of assessing them, and which criteria can be identified as influencing judgments and ratings.
Upon completion of the course, students should be able to:
- demonstrate knowledge of assessing writing performance;
- demonstrate a practical competence in setting up and assessing writing;
- demonstrate a better knowledge of the general theoretical problems behind assessing writing;
- demonstrate ability to perform validation of writing assessment results; and
- demonstrate competence in providing feedback based on written performance.
Teaching methodology including the use of eLearning tools
The classes will typically include lectures followed by mini discussions and practical assignments in class.
