Intended learning outcomes

The aim of the course is to develop your general proficiency in English through improving your knowledge of grammar and vocabulary. Course work will focus on essential grammar (tenses, modals and semi-modals, linking verbs, passives, questions, verb complementation, reporting, agreement and articles) and on expanding your lexical range on a broad variety of general and advanced topics.

Teaching methodology including the use of eLearning tools

lecture and practice
student contributions on pertinent topics related to lexical development and grammar
self-study and workshops

expanding vocabulary (lexical range) on a broad variety of general topics
dictionary use
collocations
tenses
modals and semi-modal
linking verbs, passives, questions
verb complementation
reporting
nouns (agreement and compound nouns)
articles, determiners and quantifiers
