Course Information

Intended learning outcomes

Kenntnisse der Grundlagen im Produktionsmanagement und Supply Chain Management sowohl methodisch als auch inhaltlich. Die StudentInnen sollten auch dazu in der Lage sein mit Hilfe der erlernten Methoden und Verfahren Geschäftsprozesse und Supply Chain Prozesse zu analysieren, zu bewerten und zu verbessern.

Grundlagen, die für das Management von Geschäftsprozessen erforderlich sind. Gestaltung und Management von Supply Chain Prozessen mit dem Ziel die Kundennachfrage und die Kundenanforderungen zufriedenzustellen. Anwendung von analytischen Methoden und Werkzeugen für die Erarbeitung von Verbesserungen für Geschäftsprozesse und Supply Chain Prozesse. Identifizierung der Anforderungen an ein integriertes Liefer- und Nachfragemanagement.

Teaching methodology

Vorlesung, Fallstudien, Beispiele.

Grading is based on a written exam and home exercises.

Course content

Produktionsmanagement und Supply Chain Management zählen zu den Kernfächern der Betriebswirtschaftslehre. Durch verkürzte Produktlebenszyklen, steigenden Anforderungen bzgl. Erhöhung der Flexibilität, Verkürzung der Lieferzeiten, Verbesserung der Qualität und Reduktion der Kosten, wird die Bedeutung des Produktionsmanagements und des Supply Chain Management weiter erhöht. Das Produktionsmanagement und das Supply Chain Management stellen eine große Herausforderung aber auch Chance sowohl für Produktions- als auch Dienstleistungsunternehmen dar.

Course content

Operations Management Supply Chain Management areconcerned with one of the oldest and also the most newly discovered activities of business. Operations management, inventory management, warehousing, transportation, and facility location - have been performed since the start of commercial activity. It is not possible to visualize any product that could reach a customer without operations and logistical support. It is surprising that only over the last few years firmshave started focusing on operations and supply chain management as a source of competitive advantage. No company can do any better than its operations and logistics system. This becomes even more important given that product life cycles are becoming shorter and competition is intense. Operations and supply chain management represents a great challenge as well as a tremendous opportunity for most companies.
