Course Information

Intended learning outcomes

Understanding of and ability to apply the various methods of analyzing media content and media use.

You will learn about the various types of quantitative and qualitative methods, and understand their strengths and weaknesses.

Teaching methodology including the use of eLearning tools

Lectures, practical training, teamwork, discussions.

Course content

The course provides you with explanations and valuable hands-on practice of the methods and the tools used to conduct research in media and communication sciences.

Topics:

    • Research process

    • Quantitative vs. Qualitative research methods

    •  Asking questions: Survey research, interviews, focus groups

    • Scientific observation

    • Data Analysis: Examining texts and Pictures,  Content and text Analysis
