Course Information

Intended learning outcomes

Students are expected to gain a better understanding of and knowledge in entrepreneurship in general and international entrepreneurship in specific. Students will also learn about the impact of current trends such as digitisation and environmental and social sustainability on the phenomenon of (international) entrepreneurship. The lecture is a suitable basis for the sister course "Cases in International Entrepreneurship".

Chapter 1: Introduction to entrepreneurship (1. What is entrepreneurship? 2. Entrepreneurship in the light of the history of economic thought 3. Variety of entrepreneurs(hip) 4. Who is the entrepreneur? 5. Impact of entrepreneurs, incl. entrepreneurs for sustainability)

Chapter 2: The entrepreneurial process (1. Entrepreneurial team 2. Entrepreneurial process 3. Opportunity recognition 4. Resource mobilization 5. Developing a business model 6. Exit and lessons from failure)

Chapter 3: Entrepreneurship in a global perspective (Global Entrepreneurship Monitor –selected data)

Chapter 4: International entrepreneurship (1. Definition 2. Domestic vs. international entrepreneurship 3. Motivation to go global 4. The role of culture 5. Internationalization theories 6. Setting up an international venture, incl. entry modes)
