Course Information
Intended learning outcomes
- acquire skills to critically observe texts;
- ability to identify special characteristics of the approach of Indigenous Authors and Artists;
- identify prevalent themes
- engage peers in an academic discussion;
- conduct research to analyse texts;
- analyse literary texts using formal, written academic English
Teaching methodology including the use of eLearning tools
- Short lecture input from instructor
- Instructor- and student-led analytical discussions of course texts
- Presentations by students followed by discussions
- Drama based activities
Course content
- Focus on literature and film by authors and directors of First Nation Societies in Australia and New Zealand.
- Providing a historical overview of issues from pre-contact societies to present day topics.
- Understanding of various implications of Indigenous Culture.
Prior knowledge expected
Applying an Academic approach towards Indigenous Literatures and Film.
Presentation Skills.
Literature
Primary literature will be discussed in first session.
Secondary literature will be provided to students electronically via Moodle.
Extra readings may be provided on Moodle to supplement primary course content.

- Fokus auf Literatur und Film von VertreterInnen der First Nations Australiens und Neuseelands
- Historischer Überblick über Themen im Zeitraum vor der Kolonisation bis heute
- Verständnis für resultierende Konsequenzen für die indigene Kultur

Primärliteratur wird in der ersten LV bekannt gegeben.
Liste der Sekundärliteratur wird in Moodle bereit gestellt.
