  • Students know the relationship between models and theories
  • Students know the potential that computer support has for model-based research approaches

Fundamentals of reasoning

  • Students are familiar with the basics of reasoning and reasoning in the context of model-based research
  • Students can characterize the relationship between abduction, induction, and deduction
  • Students know (cognitive) patterns of abduction
  • Students are familiar with the forms of abduction and can identify their relevance in the context of model-based research

Modeling and computational issues

(Self-) Reflection of model-based research

  • Students are able to critically reflect on their own model-based research
  • Students can identify best practices of model-based research (especially argumentation and reasoning) in their own scientific field

Teaching methodology including the use of eLearning tools

  • Lectures
  • Discussions
  • Short reflection papers
  • Presentation of short reflection papers
