Course Information

Intended learning outcomes

At the end of this course, students should produce a first proposal for their planned MA thesis. 

Students should be familiar with the academic writing process and its phases and entialed components and also reflect upon their own writing experiences.

Students should acquire concrete strategies to be able to  come up with the first proposal for their planned MA thesis (including preliminary research question, data and method, overall structure and relevant literature).

Teaching methodology including the use of eLearning tools

- theoretical input regarding academic writing process, strategies etc.

- self-study and online-assignments regarding the various phases and applied strategies

- student presentations regarding their first ideas (depending on students' progress in their MA thesis writing phase)

- norms and conventions of academic writing

- working with academic literature
