Course Information

Intended learning outcomes

Learning goal for this course include

  • Understanding fundamentals of structural equation modeling (SEM), such as basic elements, model identification, estimation, and model fit
  • Estimating SEMs including
    • Confirmatory factor analysis
    • Observed-variable and latent-variable path models
    • Multi-group models
    • Moderation and mediation models
  • Correctly reporting results of those SEMs

Teaching methodology including the use of eLearning tools

Lectures, in-class discussion, individual and group-based exercises, assigned reading/viewing.

Course content

Fundamentals of SEM

Principles of factor analysis

Principles of observed-variable and latent-variable path models

More complex models, such as moderation (including multi-group models) and mediation models
