Course Information

Intended learning outcomes

After successful completion of this course students will be able:

  • to work with different laboratory equipment;
  • to design and test electrical circuits using passive components;
  • to assemble and test electrical circuits exploiting active components;
  • to integrate microcontrollers with analog circuitry for the design of Embedded Systems.

Teaching methodology

  • Brief explanation of theoretical concepts
  • Practical work in small groups
  • Physical experiments using breadboards and a development platform

Prior knowledge expected

  • Basics of electronics components
  • Conversion between different numerical systems (binary, decimal and hexadecimal)
  • Ohm’s law, Kirchhoff’s laws
  • Complex numbers 

Examination information

Im Fall von online durchgeführten Prüfungen sind die Standards zu beachten, die die technischen Geräte der Studierenden erfüllen müssen, um an diesen Prüfungen teilnehmen zu können.

Examination methodology

The students are demanded to write a final report that will be evaluated. An oral exam will follow, to check the understanding of the course topics.

- Final report: 80%
- Oral examinations: 20%

To complete the course the final report and the oral examination must be positively completed.
