Inhalt/e

This tutorial is provided for all students in the English and American Studies Programme.

In order to make use of our individual consultations, students are asked to enrol for the tutorial 552.100 via ZEUS before choosing a timeslot in the Doodle (to be provided on ZEUS by March 9th).

Consultations will take place at the Writing Center in room N.1.26, one floor above the English department. Each consultation lasts 45 minutes.

What to expect

Students are welcome at any point of their writing process, as they may encounter varying questions and challenges at different times. The aim is not only to improve students’ texts, but also to develop students’ writing skills further.

Possible texts for discussion may be:

  • English paragraph
  • Essay
  • (Pro-)Seminar Paper
  • BA/MA Thesis

Possible issues may be:

  • finding and narrowing down a topic
  • finding and formulating a research question
  • research and citing
  • paragraph structure and overall text structure
  • coherence and cohesion
  • academic style
  • revision and editing strategies
  • anything else related to the writing process

Students may bring a text along to the individual consultation (or send part of a text in advance). In this case, additional feedback will be given, e. g. regarding structure, citation, or academic style. However, texts will not be proof-read.

In case of queries, please do not hesitate to contact us via e-mail!
