- Blended Learning Format: attendance at writing workshops and distance learning (provided via the e-learning platform Moodle)
Course Content:
At the heart of travel writing lies curiosity, which can also be seen as a quest for knowledge. This course offers an introduction into the cultural practises to writing and travelling, establishing various techniques for travel writing.
In the course “Writing the city: Klagenfurt” students will make some guided walks around the university, each following a research topic. From model texts students will understand the role of note taking and note making during these expeditions. Therefore, students will analyze and respond to these texts, describe their own perceptions and document their experiences.
The course is structured into
- 1 writing workshop, presenting the most common writing techniques and some organisational information
- 3 travel writing workshops, where students discover defined cultural spaces following the research topics
- 1 workshop on writing and revision, where the writing process from taking notes to polished texts will be mapped
