Course Information

Intended learning outcomes

Master and PhD students in economics and business administration. The course is part of the curriculum of the doctoral program MSOBE.

Course content

DSGE (dynamic stochastic general equilibrium) models, their computation and some applications. 

Prior knowledge expected

Working knowledge of the English language; basic knowledge of economics; basics of calculus and linear algebra; some knowledge of intermediate economics desirable.

Examination information

Im Fall von online durchgeführten Prüfungen sind die Standards zu beachten, die die technischen Geräte der Studierenden erfüllen müssen, um an diesen Prüfungen teilnehmen zu können.

Examination methodology

Prerequisites for a positive assessment:

Oral and written examination at the end of the course (40 % each). Alternative: written seminar paper.

Presentationof one chapter of the textbooks (50 %).

Positive assessment of the participation in the discussions (10 %).

Regular attendance.

Assessment criteria / Standards of assessment for examinations

Note on the seminar paper: The topic of the paper will be one of the chapters of the textbooks not presented by the same student. The paper will have to be delivered after the end of the course until the end of the semester. It shall show the student’s ability to understand and possibly apply the techniques taught in the course.

Note on the participation in the discussions: Questions for a better understanding of the content of the course can be asked anytime. Only successful and positive contributions to the discussion will be assessed. Never hesitate asking anything if you feel it to be necessary!!
