Prüfungsinformationen
Prüfungsmethode/n
Every week - generally five to seven days before the date of the next lecture - an exercise sheet will be made available in Moodle, the university's e-learning platform. Students are expected to solve the exercises on this sheet to the best of their abilities before the next lecture.
No later than 15:30 each Wednesday, students are to register their completed exercises online in the ZEUS system. While the students are not expected to hand in their homework directly, any student that has registered an exercise as completed in ZEUS may be called upon to present this exercise during the lecture.
Additionally, a final exam will be held.
Prüfungsinhalt/e
While all material covered by the course 311.960 (20S) Methodology 1: Mathematics is considered relevant, and may appear on exercise sheets, the exam will predominantly concern itself with topics covered, directly or indirectly, by the exercise sheets completed up until that point.
Beurteilungskriterien/-maßstäbe
The final grade will be based on how many points the student has obtained, out of 100 possible points, distributed as follows:
50 points for final exam: The final exam is planned to be held during the final lecture, on June 24th, 16:00-17:00. Participation is mandatory, and a satisfactory performance is expected in order to receive a positive final grade.
25 points for marking exercises as completed in ZEUS: In order to be eligible for these points, students are expected to have a satisfactory answer to at least 51% of each marked exercise, and to have made at least a serious attempt at completing the remaining 49%. Moreover, students who do not participate in any given lesson will not be eligible for any points that would be given for exercises that week; in general, the instructor will not accept solutions, written or otherwise, presented outside of the lecture.
25 points for presentation and cooperation: These points are given out for blackboard presentations, particularly when done voluntarily, as well as particularly creative - and correct - solutions, solutions to bonus exercises etc. In order to receive a passing grade, students are expected to present at least twice over the duration of the course.
Additional information:
It is possible to deregister from the course via e-mail to the instructor until March 31st; in this case, no grade will be given.
Without extraordinary and well-documented reasons, students are not allowed to be absent from more than two lectures.
The final note is determined as follows:
100-88: Very good (5), 87-75: Good (4), 74-62: Satisfactory (3), 61-51: Sufficient (2), 50-0: Insufficient (1)
