In our paper, a new versionof a “narrative inquiry” is used to capture reflexions on experiences ofenvironmental communication over time. Furthermore, the paper takes account ofthe cultural context and the related understanding of sustainable developmentas well as motives for sustainable behaviour in the individual biography.  Using Rory’s Story Cubes® (dices with symbolsand pictograms) we encouraged 12 interviewees from various cultural backgroundsto “story” environment-related life events into order and meaning. Ourevaluation of the interviews was then focused on the structure of the story,the analysis of used frames and metaphors for sustainable development and theindividual biographical background.  Working with a feminist researchapproach (Pink, 2001), we put this form of a narrative inquiry up fordiscussion: We perceive the interviews as act of environmental communication,realizing reflexivity on power and equality of positions as well ascontradictions.
