Title: | Dezintegracija društva i dezintegracija individualnog subjekta u ratnoj prozi postjugoslavenskih spisateljica |
Description: | War literature of contemporary female authors from Bosnia, Croatia and Serbia (Daša Drndić, Ivana Sajko, Alma Lazarevska, Nura Bazdulj-Hubijar, Svetlana Velmar-Janković etc.) appears to explore the relation between the disintegration of society and disintegration of the individual subject. My paper focuses on prose texts in which war (Second World War as well as the Yugoslav Wars of the 1990's) is narrated from the point of view of female protagonists who are confronted with minor male characters carrying weapons, i.e. making war. The paper analyses the narrative devices that convey the relation between the disintegration of a society or a community by means of the turning of supposed differences into something which is war-relevant and the tendency of the individual to disintegrate under such circumstances. It turns out that this relation is embodied in the narrative structural analogy of fragmentation on various levels and that at the same time this fragmentation enables a narrative of the restitution of the subject-status. |
