| Beschreibung: | The contribution opens the conference "Creating Glocal Perspectives" organised by the Unesco Chair at the University of Klagenfurt with a theoretical sharpening of the concept of Global Citizenship Education. All three-word parts of the term are analysed in their ambivalence: The global can range from a purely free market to global solidarity. Citizenship can be nationally exclusive or open up participation as civic or urban citizenship. And the concepts of education range from controlling the subject to empowering it. In this ambivalence lies both the challenge and the potential of global citizenship education, if it is not understood as a ready-made label but as a field of work. |
