Title: | A Methodological Contribution to Team-Role-Balance Measurement Based on Belbin’s Self-Perception Inventory |
Description: | Both in research and in practice team diversity, team composition, and how teams should be composed to be most efficient, are well discussed topics. Belbin’s Team-Role Self-Perception Inventory tries to describe the role distribution within a single team. It is assumed that for an efficient team all team roles have to be present and the team roles within this team are balanced. There exist several operationalizations to measure team role balance. But an adequate measurement which makes it possible to compare role distributions of different teams in large samples as well for small teams is still missing. The paper introduces existing and new approaches to measure team role balance and tests the operationalizations with a real sample of 43 young as well as small entrepreneurial teams. |
