Titel: Neighbors in the medieval Landscape of Memory. Workshop Charles University Prague
Beschreibung:

In 2018 at the Leeds International Medieval Congress, a group of international scholars founded the Society of Mnemonic Studies in order to further the study of mnemonic methods, including but not limited to the ars memorativa.  Members of the society seek to trace out the genesis of the art of memory in its intellectual and cultural origins, as well as the manuscript tradition and the history of the printed editions of the mnemonic treatises themselves. The society’s members approach mnemonic systems from different points of methodological views, i.e. philological, historical, art historical, pedagogical, bibliography studies and the like

The most interesting and original aspect of the recent studies on Art of memory is that they view it not only as a set of theoretical rules, but also as a collection of practices and experiences that are condensed in the objects of memory or remembering. When inserted into this operative context, the concept of memory assumes a more complex structure, making of it something similar to (and superimposable on) the concept of cognitive activity. In September 2019, the Society held its first workshop in Prague.
