Research Workshop "Hydropower"

Hydropower represents the largest renewable energy source in Europe accounting for more than 14% of total primary energy production of renewable energy in the EU-28 in 2016 and more than 300 TWh p.a. (approx. 35%) of total electricity production. Moreover, hydropower provides important large-scale storage capacity to stabilize European electricity grids. This 2-day event aims at exchanging existing academic knowledge and best practices on electricity production from hydropower between three different countries: Austria, Switzerland and Iceland. By bringing together different disciplines and perspectives (e.g. environmental engineering, energy modelling, management, environmental psychology) an essential part of the workshop is to translate different insights and synergies into concrete initiatives for future research collaborations.
