This paper is devoted to the systematic classification of all possible types of Lexical Parallels (full/partial/false). The classification is based on the evidence from Russian and German. A classical Parallel in two or more languages consists in grouping of lexical items, where one or more items from each language are selected, with similar (phonetic and/or graphic) forms and partial or full identity/nonidentity of meanings (intersememes and idiosememes). This classification provides a systematic understanding of so called “false friends” and “internationalisms”, and allows to provide systematic definitions of “interlingual homonyms” and “interlingual paronyms”, maintaining the classical definition of homonymy and paronymy as relations within one given language.
