In many healthcare systems, multidisciplinary teams (MDTs) are critical in cancer care. MDTs make treatment recommendations based on the current medical knowledge of therapies and drugs. MDTs do not always work optimally in clinical decision-making, and not all MDT decisions are implemented in clinical workflows. However, they claim a high range of financial, human and time resources, while the effectiveness of MTDs' work and their benefit for patients are still insufficiently scientifically evaluated in oncological care. We conducted a Systematic Review of the literature summarising the available evidence on the effectiveness of tumour boards. We aimed to analyse the structures and processes of MDTs, what factors are crucial to running a high-quality one, and their impact on patient outcomes.
